Lots of unused space.
Initially I was attracted to the possibilities of this app. I was excited that the *first* multitouch interface (the OG Lemur) is available on my iPad for practically nothing. The original was about $2500. The short version: you get out of this what youre willing to put into it. If youre into running plugins in a DAW and rinsing presets because hard work is discouraging, then head over and grab a copy of sylenth. If youre interested in interacting with your music or sound in new and innovative ways then this is all you need. Yes the scripting language can seem daunting at first, but like anything worth doing, youll get out of this what you put into it. If your goal is to sound like the current beat port top 100 then look elsewhere. Theres a good reason envelope pushing artists like Amon Tobin, Richard Devine, and autechre use software and hardware like this, kyma x, reaktor and Max 6/7, to do what they do. Theres a reason Martin Garrix and DJ Snake dont use these tools. The question you should ask yourself is, which kind of artist do you want to be? Get this app if you want to create something unique and real. 4 stars only because Mira makes interaction with Max easier, but there are still PLENTY of amazing uses for this revolutionary software. Dig In, and be rewarded.
If youre a beginner and looking for a midi piano app for dummies, then look elsewhere. This app is so deep and limitless that youll think twice about your old way of doing things. Truly evolutionary.
Countless hours trying to find info on setting this thing up on config that works with Windows 8. I hate this app and would love to get my money back.....
First off, I am not new to music production, DAWs, MIDI, or synthesis. This is misleading to sell this as a music app, because its not. It is a computer programmer app. It is all scripting, you will find nothing in the manual that even puts anything in any kind of musical context whatsoever. There are limited, if any resources that even explain how to do one useful thing with it as it pertains to making music. If you want to make music, dont bother, if you want to do coding then This is for you.
Lemur is hands down the most powerful and useful tool for music production and live performance. TouchOSC is the only other app that really compares at all and it doesnt even come close to matching the power and functionality of Lemur. I have very few issues with the latest version of Lemur. Liine has done an amazing job updating and supporting the app. But new users beware. Lemur isnt for the faint of heart. If you have no prior experience with programming or scripting Lemur will be very challenging to pick up. You will be able to use most of the basic features without prior scripting experience and you can take advantage of the built in templates to get an idea of what Lemur is capable of but you wont be able to leverage the truly powerful features until you take the time to fully understand how scripting with Lemur works. But Lemur is an extremely worthwhile investment to anyone willing to take the time to learn all the ins and outs of this tool. TouchOSC is probably a good place to start if Lemur seems daunting to you. But I highly recommend this app to any serious producer/performer. You wont be disappointed if you know what you are getting into.
If you know what this app does and is about, then you know it is the best 25$ you will spend in your studio. Heck, I bought my iPad specifically for Lemur.
Looks promising but dont waste your money! Lemur crashes a lot and is difficult to set up. Discouraging for live use to say the least.
I wrote a long review but it didnt work out so... Yea this is the best thing out there IMHO. You will not regret it whether you work with midi and especially if you work with osc oh my god. I dont know what people are talking about, but if you have a little knowledge of MIDI controllers, lemur is no problem and way easy to set up. And with some more knowledge you can literally build any kind of production/performance interface you want, without having to learn C. Forum and Facebook page are very helpful, buy items! Best controller app without comparison
This app has changed my interaction with Ableton Live completely. There is a bit of steep learning curve and quite some effort required to get things up and running properly. But, dont give up, because its worth it. Im slowly moving away from hardware controllers due to this app.
Im sure for some this app is great, but its not designed very well. I read the manual, watched videos and read forums and still couldnt get it to work. I managed to get it connected, but thats about it. I dont doubt that for expert Mac users who know something about networks the app is great. I had high hopes, but I think an app should be designed for average users who dont have hours to fuss with it. I got Logic Remote and it worked with very little effort. Im not alone on this - search the internet.
I recently got the iPad Pro, and coming from a Mini, I was more than excited to use this on a huge screen, but to no avail. I came into it expecting the app not to be updated, and that it might just be a blown up iPad Air style app. Instead, what I found was just the top left corner of this program, with no way of changing that. This is a problem I can not work around. I understand its a new product, but being a developer, Im aware of how easy it is to upscale on a device, and this is sloppy. Please correct this issue.
Last version crash on iPad 4
No longer opens on iPad 3 with iOS 9.1 :(
Worked yesterday. Updated today and app crashes on startup no matter what. iPad 3 iOS 9.1. Wiped my iPad and restored to factory. Only installed Lemur app. Still crashes on startup...
The App was fixed and now doesnt crash on startup! Good job!
So far Ive been crash free since this update. This is not an easy app to master, but it is worth the work. I say that as someone who is still a long way from mastering it. Virtually any MIDI or OSC control interface which can be imagined can be built in Lemur, no matter how complex, and at very little cost to system resources.
I downloaded this app to my iPhone 6s Plus and tried to configure for use, but tapping the settings button crashes the app. I will try later on my iPad to see if a different device will resolve the issue. If so, I will update my review indicating so.
Another botched update... Ive had nothing but problems with this app... And for the price it should run as smooth as silk... Now after this update Im locked in on the module I have selected. Any time I try to press the settings icon, the app crashes, every single time. Basically, I cant connect the lemur to my computer or change modules without access to the settings icon. . So once again, for the 6th time, my Lemur is completely useless. Its always something. Either its on the app or the computer software. My app was useless for almost a year while Liine took their sweet time making the software for windows 8, I havent even bothered trying it on Windows 10 yet... Liine, you cant release dodgy software when you are charging $50 a pop for this app, get it together! BUYER BEWARE: I regret purchasing this app.
