iPad 3 trouble

The App is great for full Midi-Control but i cant start/open it in my iPad 3 since the latest Update today. Please fix this! (Im using iOS 9.1)

Waste of money- not working at all!!

This release is trash. I purchased yesterday. Lemur keeps crashing on launch. Iphone 4s latest iOS. Absolute waste of time and money. I want a refund!!!

Would be great if...

Lemur is a great app and a perfect match to your old iPad 1, but this version will crash on it. If you plan to purchase for iOS5 as I did, you better wait until iOS5 support is stable. I have not canceled the purchase because I trust in liine developers and will wait patiently ;-)

Cant update neither delete

What is wrong? Update impossible hanging during installation and deleting also not possible on ios 9.2. Please fix asap

No pain, no gain.

## Reviewed version iOS app version 5.32 / Lemur Editor version 5.3.2 (Windows 10) ## Pros ++++ Real fun when you have something finished and setup +++ Overall huge creative potential with great flexibility for controlling DAWs etc. +++ Works also on old iOS 5 (!) devices, hence eventually a useful application for legacy iPads ++ Some useful and nifty default control elements (e.g. Fader, Knob, MultiBall, etc.) ++ Useful dynamic single line expressions, practical container based scoping and hierarchical "inheritance", sufficient standard math functions + Simple bi-directional sync between Lemur Editor and Lemur iOS app + Fair pricing when taking in account the possibilities for creating custom controllers ## Cons ---- CRITICAL BUG: Using double quotes in commented code lines leads to an XML parse error which then results in loss of the complete script and possibly other scripts of the project ---- CRITICAL BUG: Switching to another Windows application window from Lemur Editor can result in loss of unsaved code changes or even worse complete loss of the edited script ---- Extremely annoying script editor (e.g. HOME and END keys do not work as expected; CTRL+Z does not undo correctly; SHIFT+TAB does not work; TAB with selection deletes; TAB inserts two indents; CTRL+S followed by pressing RETURN selects random code, thus subsequent RETURN deletes it; DBLCLICK selection behavior strange; No line duplication or deletion; etc. ...) --- Overall Lemur Editor GUI usability is really bad (e.g. CTRL+Z, TAB and RETURN change window/palette focus; Missing search and search/replace; Code inspection requires expanding collapsed tree branches; Missing refactoring capabilities; Expressions and scripts can not be renamed; Colors can only be set by a picker, thus no exact color selection; Nearly every interaction requires use of mouse; Very outdated look & feel in general ...) --- BUG: Editor rarely crashes for unknown reasons, thus risk for loss of work --- Very poor API documentation PDF which lacks many useful information (e.g. No documentation on parameter types or return values; No usage examples; No mention of quirks; Missing specs like MIDI message syntax, etc. ...) --- Countless unusual scripting behavior/quirks which require workarounds (e.g. "On Load" is reliable in local scope only; All "On Expression" handlers trigger also during load, thus all buttons are fired on start-up; There is no type casting or the possibility to identify a type; There is no boolean or null type ... non-existent or uninitialized expressions are evaluated to 0 ... 0 equals 0.0 ... and to persist an expression it needs to be created uninitialized; It is not possible to change the execution type of a script, thus "On Frame" handlers can not be registered/unregistered; Colors not defined as hex but as integer (with RGB/HSV float conversion though); ... etc. etc.) -- Scripting language offers not any string related functionality (e.g. it is not even possible to cast an integer to a string for printing it on screen without implementing ASCII conversion) -- Cumbersome manual debugging (actually not even a console for printing debug output exists ...) - No support for Unicode characters - No code completion, very rudimentary syntax highlighting - No online documentation resources beside an old-school forum with few recent activities - Lemur Editor requires not bundled third party applications for MIDI loopback ## Opinion One could say without doubt the more experienced you are in programming the less you will like coding Lemur content. By the same time the less you are in programming the more you will have trouble making your own content at all. That said, you should also note that only a few of the factory projects are useful and production ready, so you will likely want to code your own Lemur content. Or you need to rely entirely on the user library, which is quite fine for many users as well, I guess. More important, looking at the current state of the editor lets me assume that the company is not actively developing the product anymore, that they have no quality management and that they heavily rely on the free content that the users provide. Nevertheless with the patience of Job, a high tolerance limit and decent programming skills it is possible to create cool and unique custom controllers. ## Conclusion Nice idea, badly manufactured. Very sad! If Liine fixes and improves all of the above Lemur will earn the 5 stars it deserves. ## Tips * Make backups of your projects as often as you can while you work on them * Make more backups ## Out of scope Not tested, thus not reviewed here: * Canvas element * OSC messaging * macOS version of Lemur Editor * iOS in-app project editor * User content

Havent tried it yet, but...

Ill edit this review soon to report back on actual app usage, just wanted to correct a previous reviewer -- you can use it wired up to a computer, they demo it with the iConnect MIDI (only downside, does not apparently charge device) by a Calgary company, though apparently the Camera Connector Kit will work with standard MIDI-USB cables. YMMV, check Google or future reviews to be sure.

Ipod Ipad

I bought it for ipod, can I switch it for ipad without buying it again?

Easy, Fun, and For Any Job

Beautiful interface and software editor, a Jack of all trades! One of the few pro music apps that changed my iOS device into a real instrument thats usable in real world live settings. Programmable for any job and most importantly excellent online material and support. I have a very specific MIDI set up for performing with two Ableton rigs and there arent many controllers that do everything I need. The Lemur fits seamlessly into my rig. I dont know anything about scripting etc. and I had everything programmed in one evening. Online content is immensely helpful and I got an email back from tech support very quickly (even though I was able to answer my own question)

<3

Top shelf control of everything! I love it. I run multiple lemurs at once on stage with my live electronica group. One on the iPhone that we can pass around, and another on the iPad that stays stationary at my place of standing. I also use lemur for djing, controlling resolume arena 4 (visuals software), and controlling my daw when I am recording alone. It is brilliant stuff!

A New World with Liine Lemur

Amazing technology that can be used for the most simple of tasks or extreme complex operations, the imagination is the only limitation. Great support team and community! Warning, your world is about to change, MIDI was cool this goes way beyond that. Enjoy!!!

Amazing

A great app. Its so easy to construct midi interfaces and controllers for all kinds of applications. Love it

Beautiful. Perfect. THANK YOU.

...for the in-app editor, you have SAVED the DAY. The ios 6 update pretty much ended wifi for me, and this more or less solves that problem, since the Lemur editor was the last program I still needed it for. I havent attempted saving any in-app work and then exporting it back to a computer for fine tuning yet, but heres hoping I can. For such a major update, I was pleased to see how quickly you can blast through the all the new options menus with total ease and instant familiarity. And for so many new extra options, you can still get around it all very efficiently, and all your existing work is there and perfectly integrated, waiting for a sexy new "shaded" skin. Im so impressed and thankful for these improvements, and Ive only been at it for 5 minutes. Still the best money Ive spent on the iPad yet! (update: yes of course Im able to transfer work between the iPad & mac. No big surprise, as whatever I can think of, the apps always five steps ahead me.)

What? no audio bus support

Ill admit its a good app. But no audio bus support!?!?! Every quality music production app these days has to have audio bus support. I was pretty upset when it wasnt appearing in the Input of audio bus. Will re-rate once this is taken care of.

Incredible!!!

If youre like me youve been wondering for at least months if not a year if the $50 price tag is worth it. Sure there are other similar apps that cost $5, so why pay 10 times that for something that more or less does the same thing, right? There are some other cool apps out there, but I have yet to see anything that offers close to the flexibility of Lemur, and Ive tried just about all of them. Yes there is a rather large learning curve and not exactly a plethora of information available on how to go about scripting for someone like me with little to no programming experience. Dont let that stop you. You will be greatly rewarded if you put in the time needed to tame this beast. If you want to make mediocre controllers go get one of the other apps. If you want to make something really cool that interacts with your music in interesting and unique ways this is the obvious choice. This is the best MIDI/OSC controller app out there, and one of the best controllers Ive ever used period. I just finished recording a track that was using Lemur to control an analog synth, the iSEM app and a delay plugin in Pro Tools all at the same time, and from the same set of controls. The other day I was controlling a pair of Moog MF-104M analog delay units. The possibilities are literally endless. And to answer your question.... It is definitely worth the $50. I would have paid $100 for it and still felt like I was stealing it.

The very best, hands down.

Worth every penny, this one is what I was hoping for. If you are serious about having total control over your DAW, this is IT!

Excellent... But

Version 5 has hobbled my favourite Cubendo control template (ArtsUnmuted QB Edit) by making it impossible for it to fit into memory without significant sacrifices compared to the previous version. Please fix this! Other than that, its a 5-star app and Ill revise this as soon as they fix the memory limit

Horrible tech support/doesnt connect

I bought this app a few months ago for $50 and it only connected properly once. I cannot get it to connect anymore on either my iphone or ipad. I have searched all over the internet and have tried everything suggested with no success. I was really excited about using this app however since I have spent the last few weeks trying to get it to work, i would recommend avoiding this app. I have read that it works for other people however there have been many with the same problem as me. Luckily for those people their app magically started working without any solutions however I dont think I am going to be as lucky. Ive accepted that i have lost 50 dollars for an app that doesnt work, I just hope others dont fall victim to this scam.

Love It!!

Worth ever penny as others have said. Great looking interfaces.

Lemur 5.3 crashes!!!

Just updated to version 5.3 and it is a major disaster!!! The app wouldnt open at all. I tried on 3 ios devices!!
